Knowledge and Innovation: SIAM’s DNA!
A ritual rooted in the heart of spring, SIAM’s 7th edition, the International Agriculture Show in Morocco, is an urban ode to the rural world.
This year’s main theme will be “Research & Innovation”, cueing last year’s topic “Agriculture Solidarity”. Inspired by an increased sensitivity to environmental issues, this year’s theme is closely related to the need for an ongoing search of sustainable agricultural practices and competitiveness in line with current climate matters pervasively present. The presentation and enhancing of these innovations will also be a testimony of pioneering development still to come, offering to our secular farming a great opportunity to fully enter tomorrow’s agricultural world.
The agricultural sector, essential for development in a constantly changing environment, contributes significantly to the environmental trends as well as the land use planning.
At the heart of all challenges (Growth, food security, sustainable development, energy independence), History of agriculture is landmarked by innovation in order to ensure its primary mission: to feed mankind.
In order to support the process of this green evolution, the SIAM offers an innovative space, bearing a new definition of farming. It’s potential consists in creating positive effects by formulating relevant answers to complex questions, based on strategic partnerships and efficient international cooperation.
The SIAM
With a total of 837 exhibitors in 100,000 m2 of exhibition space, the SIAM 2011 under the theme “Agricultural Solidarity”, second mainstay of the “Plan Vert Maroc” was a huge success with a great layout of the Souk allowing visitors to discover local products as well as the renovated Product Pole.
The Regions Pole, result from a national advocacy, has been conspicuous by the interest it generated year after year. The 16 regions of the kingdom will carry on their potential, emphasizing their specific features, their success as well as the territorial innovations implemented in order to promote their products and agricultural wealth
Regarding the well-attended Breeding Pole with its 1800 animals, gathers the kingdom’s most beautiful animals and hosts a yearly contest sought-after by breeders and visitors.
And finally, within the International Pole, the SIAM confirms its position and asserts itself as a remarkable relay, providing its participants with openness to the world. After Germany in 2010 and France in 2011, this year’s front stage honorary Country is Canada. The International Pole is now a known space for meetings and partnerships that are established. Thus, B to B and B to A meetings allowed promising and successful interconnections in terms of knowledge sharing and 10 public agreements were signed! This success makes SIAM’s International Pole an essential platform for meetings and dialogues for the farming community.
Furthermore, the SIAM has a pedagogical approach with its extensive and media-covered conference program by over 200 local and foreign journalists.
600,000 Moroccan and foreign visitors, including many leading politicians, experts and professionals, gather every year for this one-of-a-kind agricultural festival.
The SIAM is an economic momentum for the city and its surroundings making it shine in a local and international scale.
